Town Center East Parking Structure to be Repaired

As part of Santa Maria’s downtown revitalization, the City will repair its Town Center East Parking Structure. The City is seeking bid quotes from engineering firms that specialize in multi-level parking facilities.

The project will repair and seal cracks, and other methods to prevent water intrusion. This is designed to bring the nearly 50-year-old concrete facility up to its original standards.

The three-level, 1,800-space structure is at the Santa Maria Town Center (the mall) bordering East Cook Street and Miller Street, across from the Superior Court.

A goal is to keep the garage open as much as possible during the project, with minimal impact to customers of the Town Center (the mall) and nearby businesses and users. A start date has not yet been scheduled but work will likely commence in 2025, and the job is anticipated to take 18 to 24 months.

The City earlier this year considered dismantling and rebuilding the structure, and informed businesses of that possibility, however, an engineering firm engaged by the City believes the structure has a serviceable life if specific mitigation measures are taken now.
