This year, the Allan Hancock College Foundation is recognizing three deserving honorees who collectively have made significant contributions to the college and to northern Santa Barbara County.
Jim Glines Co-founder, Community Bank of Santa Maria
Jim Glines (1942–2025) was a Santa Maria legend who raised millions of dollars for Allan Hancock College and other local causes through his distinct homespun style of auctioneering. Jim co-founded Community Bank of Santa Maria and activated the AHC Athletics Boosters in 2000 to support Hancock athletes through the annual Joe White dinner. Most recently, Jim helped launch the new rodeo team at Hancock before he passed unexpectedly earlier this year.
Dr. Henry Davis Retired AHC Faculty Member
Dr. Henry Davis came to Hancock as a student while stationed at Vandenberg AFB. In 1975 when he retired from the military, he accepted a faculty position at Hancock as an academic counselor and later taught courses in sociology and leadership, including in the Lompoc prisons. One of Hancock's first full-time African American professors, Dr. Davis has influenced generations of Hancock students.
Santa Ynez Valley Foundation Serving the Santa Ynez and Los Alamos Valleys
The Santa Ynez Valley Foundation has supported scholarships at Allan Hancock College for two decades and was an early funder of the Hancock Promise endowment campaign. The Valley Foundation is a trusted source of philanthropic support for dozens of nonprofit organizations serving the Santa Ynez and Los Alamos Valleys and awards dozens of scholarships to Valley students each year.
