Active Aging Week Events
Adults 50+ years of age in Santa Maria are encouraged to celebrate Active Aging Week. A series of fun activities will be offered at the Elwin Mussell Center (510 East Park Street) from Saturday, September 30th through Sunday, October 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This week-long observance celebrates active aging adults as fully participating members of society and promotes the benefits of leading an active, healthy lifestyle.
This is organized by the City of Santa Recreation and Parks Department and the Active Aging Committee .

Classes will include Zumba, Zumba Chair Workout, Hula for Health, Yoga, and the Build Your Own Body class, Line Dancing, the Senior Nutrition Program, and arts and crafts classes. The week will conclude with a Senior Dance featuring music by the Riptide Band.
Returning this year is the Vaccine Clinic hosted by Rite Aid pharmacy on Monday, October 2nd from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Rite Aid Pharmacy will offer free or low-cost flu, pneumonia, shingles, and Covid booster vaccines (as available) for individuals 50+ years in age. This event is part of a broader set of Smart City, Safe City programs supporting the City Council’s goal of more recreation for families, and the Recreation and Parks Department’s goal to create opportunities for social engagement.
