Featured Businesses of the Month
The City of Santa Maria and Santa Maria Valley Chamber are partnering to highlight different businesses in the City of Santa Maria through their Santa Maria Featured Businesses program. This program gives recognition to businesses who have been in the community for a significant amount of time, and/or providing unique or significant contributions to our community. Not only does this give valuable exposure to these local businesses, it also reminds our community of the unique, diverse and long-standing businesses we are fortunate to have in Santa Maria.
The focus for 12 months, since January 2023, gives recognition to local businesses for their longevity and/or providing significant healthcare contributions. Each month, one business from each of these two categories is recognized during the City Council meeting and publicized by the City and the Chamber.
August 2023 Featured Businesses
- Long-standing business: Kirk and Simas.
- Healthcare business: The Joint Chiropractic.
Kirk & Simas, self-described as the largest law firm in Santa Maria. Located at 2550 Professional Parkway, the firm has six attorneys and eight staff members. Kirk & Simas works with private and public sector clients across a full range of industries, legal practices, and specialties. Robert (Bob) Trapp established his law practice in Santa Maria in 1951 and joined Dan Kirk in 1956 as the Firm of Trapp & Kirk until 1972 when Bob was appointed as a Judge of the Santa Barbara Superior Court. Alex Simas joined Dan Kirk's established practice to form Kirk & Simas in 1976.
This month’s business being recognized for its healthcare contributions to the community is The Joint Chiropractic’s Santa Maria office. Part of an 880-location franchise, the Santa Maria office with five employees is located at 560 Betteravia Road Suite C. The office is open seven days a week and is walk-in only.
