Dia De Los Muertos - Catrin & Catrina Contest
The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is excited to announce the return of the annual Catrin & Catrina Contest as part of the 2023 Dia de los Muertos celebration. Residents of all ages are welcome to participate in this free contest on Sunday, October 29th at 3:00 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Center, 313 West Tunnell Street.
Dress up in the spirit of Dia De Los Muertos. Awards will be given to the best Catrin and Catrina ensemble. Participants are invited to register for the contest at the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department booth during the event.
The Dia de los Muertos family festival held from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. offers community members a fun-filled day with visual and musical entertainment, youth activities, food, vendors, and beautiful altar displays celebrating the lives of deceased loved ones.
This is part of a broader set of programs supporting the City Council’s goal of more recreation for families, and the Recreation and Parks Department’s goal to create opportunities for social engagement.
