Teen Halloween Dance

The City of Santa Maria Mayor’s Task Force on Youth Safety is hosting a free Halloween dance for teens in grades 7 through 12 on Friday, October 27th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center, located at 600 South McClelland Street.

The participants will enjoy live DJ music and terrific treats. The first 100 attendees will receive candy bags and free food. A school identification card or Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center membership card are required to enter. Wearing a costume is highly encouraged.

The mission of the Mayor’s Task Force on Youth Safety is to prevent violence through the coordination of safe and healthy programming. In partnership with the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, resources and programs are offered to deter youth involvement in criminal activity, drug use, gangs, and violence. Efforts include coordinating free recreational activities, organizing field trips, promoting the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center as a safe place, and offering job exploration, leadership, and employment opportunities. Providing supervised recreational activities for teens in secure City facilities aligns with the City’s vision of a safer city.

Questions may be directed to the Recreation and Parks Department at (805) 925-0951 extension 2260.
